W.R. Sports Ltd. is part of Ashford Sports Club and its main purpose is to provide facilities for, and to promote participation in the amateur sports of bowls, darts, pool, table tennis and tennis in the local area. The sports site is located in Woodthorpe Road, Ashford (which is the home of Ashford Bowls Club, Ashford Table Tennis Club and Ashford Tennis Club).
OPEN DAY 4th JUNE
WR Sports Club will be holding an Open Day on Monday 4th June between 2pm and 4.30pm at their Woodthorpe Road site. All the sports clubs there will be open to non-members on that day in order to encourage participation from the local community. There will be the opportunity to try out bowls, table tennis and tennis, as well as enjoying the less energetic social activities of pool and darts, or just sitting on the patio and enjoying a drink from the bar whilst celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee.
There will be a bouncy castle for the children, a BBQ for all, and experienced players from all the clubs will be on hand to advise those interested in specific sports.
Just come along and try out your local sports and social club, meet new people and perhaps discover a talent in sport you never knew you had! Everyone is welcome so make the most of this opportunity to ‘give it a go’ at this very friendly club, and it could be the start of an exciting new life!
WRS offers the local community sporting membership by joining any of the above three sports clubs, and social membership, which includes darts, pool, Sky TV and social functions at the clubhouse. WRS enters teams in the local darts and pool leagues.
The Clubhouse is tastefully furnished, with a fully stocked bar, open daily, and is a suitable venue for functions such as parties, reunions, receptions, or refreshments following christenings or funerals. It can accommodate over 100 people and there is ample car parking. There is a large patio with awning and seating.
Catering can be organised if requested, also disco and a PA system.
